You only need to read this page if you are having problems logging in to access the Members' Area of this web site. This www.barnetyha.org website (in common with most other websites that allow users to log in) uses 'cookies', which are small files that are stored on your computer. A 'cookie' allows the web site to remember who you are and whether you have logged in. This is necessary to control access to web pages that are only available to members. If your computer doesn't accept 'cookies', you won't be able to log in to the members' area of this site. The way to change your 'cookie' settings depends on what type of web browser you are using. Your web browser is the program that you use to view web sites. In the bar at the top of the screen, you will probably see one of the following:
Microsoft Internet Explorer (I.E.) If you are using Internet Explorer (I.E.) you need to find out which version you have. Select Help > About Internet Explorer, to find out the version. This might be I.E. version 5.0, 5.5, 6, 7 or 8.
Mozilla Firefox If you are using Mozilla Firefox, select Help > About Mozilla Firefox, to find out which version you have.
Apple Mac Safari If you are using the Safari web browser on an Apple Mac computer, you should see a menu bar at the top of the screen. Select Safari > Preferences > Security > Accept Cookies then select either:
(If you select Never, you won't be able to log in.) Another thing to check in Safari is that Javascript is enabled, Select: Safari > Preferences > Security and check that Enable Javascript is ticked. Computers on company networks If you access the www.barnetyha.org web site from a computer at work, your company may have set various security or 'firewall' settings that users cannot change. These settings might prevent you from logging in or opening documents from this web site or doing certain things like uploading photos to your photo album. If security settings on a work computer prevent you from logging in to this web site or opening documents, then using a computer at home or in a public library, etc. may be your only option. |
