NLOG local walks protocol
- Please ensure you have familiarised yourself with the fact sheets before joining a walk.
- Please could all walk leaders send the local walks coordinator the names of all attendees.
- If you would like a lift or are able to offer one, please use the group email to arrange this with group members.
- Unfortunately we no longer allow dogs to join us on our walks.
- You take part in all events at your own risk.
JUNE 2023 | |
Sunday 4th | Day Walk - TRENT PARK A 10 mile circular walk from High Barnet via Hadley Common, past the White Gates to Trent Park. Please bring a packed lunch. Meet: 9.30 am outside Ye Olde Monken Holt The Monk pub, 193 High Street, Barnet EN5 5SU. |
Friday 9th | Summer Evening Walk - POTTERS BAR A 4 mile walk along footpaths and fields around Potters Bar. We will go to the Admiral Byng afterwards where you should be able to get food as well as a drink. Meet: 7:10 for 7.15pm start outside Potters Bar station, EN6 1SQ. Parking in nearby streets. |
Sunday 11th | Day Walk - NEW BARNET TO HIGH BARNET A 5 mile linear walk taking in Victoria Park, Jack’s Lake, Hadley Woods and King George’s fields. Afterwards, optionally, the Barnet Medieval Festival takes place in the Barnet Elizabethan’s Rugby Club (£6.00 on the door). Otherwise, High Barnet tube station or the Everyman are easily accessible. Meet: for a prompt 10.00 am start outside the Barnet Everyman cinema, Great North Road, Barnet EN5 1AB. |

Thursday 15th | Summer Evening Walk - OAK HILL PARK TO ARNOS PARK A 4 / 5 mile walk through Oak Hill Park following Pymmes Brook to Brunswick Park then along Waterfall Walk to Arnos Park and back again. Meet: 6.30pm for 6.45pm start in the park at the corner of Church Hill Road / Littlegrove. Parking in nearby streets. |
Wednesday 21st | Summer Evening Walk - ANGEL TO TOTTENHAM Linear walk from Angel to Tottenham Hale via the Regents Canal and River Lea. Approximately 6 miles with a drink at the Ferry Boat Inn on completion. Meet: 6.00pm at the Angel. |
Thursday 22nd | Summer Evening Walk - HAMPSTEAD HEATH AND KENWOOD A 4 mile walk across Hampstead Heath, taking in the ponds and far reaching views from Parliament Hill. We return via the Kenwood Estate and North End finishing off with a drink at a 200 year old pub, The Hollybush in Hampstead. www.hollybushhampstead.co.uk Meet: 6.50 pm for a prompt start at 7.00 pm outside Hampstead tube station (Northern Line, Edgware branch) |
Sunday 25th | Day Walk - ESSENDON TO BAYFORD A 10 mile circular walk from Essendon via Little Berkhamsted, Bayford and Newgate Street. Meet: 9.50 am for a 10.00 am start at Essendon Village Hall, School Lane, Essendon, AL9 6HD. |

Wednesday 28th | Summer Evening Walk - ALEXANDRA PALACE A 4 mile walk through Alexandra Park following a former railway line now a nature corridor to Highgate woods and returning via footpaths to the station. Meet: 6.50 pm for a 7.00 pm start at Alexandra Palace train station, AP exit. |

Thursday 6th | Summer Evening Walk - SPITALFIELDS & CITY – Refugees, Riches, & the Ripper A 2.5-mile circular walk through Spitalfields, with Huguenots, Henry VIII, bagels and a Bangladeshi mosque. Meet: 6.45pm for 7pm start at the front of Liverpool Street station, (Circle, Central, Elizabeth, Metropolitan and Ham&City) on Bishopsgate. |

Wednesday 12th | Summer Evening Walk - GOLDERS GREEN TO HIGHGATE LINEAR WALK A 4.5 mile walk, starting from Golders Green Tube Station (Northern Line - Edgware Branch), continuing through West Heath, Hampstead Heath and Highgate Village. Meet: 6.30pm for a 6.45pm start at Golders Green Tube Station (Northern Line - Edgware Branch). The walk finishes at Highgate Station (Northern Line - Barnet Branch). |
Thursday 20th | Summer Evening Walk - GUNPOWDER PARK, WALTHAM ABBEY CIRCULAR Join us for a 5.5 Mile walk starting/finishing at Gunpowder Park and taking in the River Lee, Osier Marsh, and Waltham Abbey Gardens. Meet: 6.45 pm for a 7.00 pm start. The entrance to Gunpowder Park car park is off the A112 Sewardstone Road just south of the roundabout junction of the A112 and A121 Dowding Way. Please note that parking charges may apply (pay by phone). |

Thursday 27th | Summer Evening Walk - BARNET TO WOOD GREEN LINEAR WALK A 6 mile walk following the Pymmes Brook from Oak Hill Park to Arnos Park, then the New River to Wood Green. Possibility of food and drink after. Meet: 6 pm for a prompt 6.15 pm start at the entrance to Oak Hill Park at the corner of Church Hill Road / Littlegrove. Tube (Picadilly Line at Wood Green), bus or train (main line at Ally Pally) for onward travel afterwards. |

Wednesday 2nd | Summer Evening Walk - LITERARY WALK - BLOOMSBURY TO FITZROVIA Circular walk of approx 3 miles from Russell Square tube station to Warren Street tube station. Hear all about Thomas Coram’s Foundling Hospital, Ted Hughes & Sylvia Plath’s surprise wedding, a famous novelist who arrived at her literary agent clutching her new handwritten novel in numerous notebooks in a blue plastic laundry bag; to name just a few of the literary gems to be discovered this evening! Meet: 6.45 pm for a 7pm start outside Russell Square tube station |

Thursday 10th | Summer Evening Walk - REGENTS PARK / PRIMROSE HILL A 3.5 mile walk around Regent’s Park and Primrose Hill. ‘The Regent’s Park area provides elegant and interesting settings for walkers in the heart of London. The park was the idea of the Prince Regent, later to become George IV. Much of the design was by John Nash.’ Meet: for 7pm start outside Regent’s Park underground station (Bakerloo line) |

Come and have your marrow well and truly chilled. Meet: 7 pm outside Cafe Nero, Newgate Street by St Pauls underground station. |
